Two weeks ago, I completed the last of my exams (Quantum Mechanics and Symmetry, and Statistical Physics) and two major assignments (a group project in which we made a game in Unity 3D, as well as my dissertation Scattering Amplitudes), which finalised everything that I had to do for my undergraduate studies. Now, I have found myself at the in-between stage of figuring out what to do next; working or continuing studies, and neither of them giving a green light to go ahead.
I have made applications for both continuing my studies with a masters course in AI, as well as some making some applications to jobs in the same field. The tricky think is; my grades from first and second year haven’t quite reached the 2:1 minimum which I would need to continue my studies, so a definitive answer for this line wont be given until my final marks are released – and I believe (hope) that my final results will get me there.
At the same time, I am determined to work in the area of Machine Learning / Computer Vision / AI whether I get on to the masters course this year or not. Of course it would be better if I got in, but I am not going to let it hinder me if I don’t. So in this vein, I have been applying to relevant positions, and exploring different possibilities which would be beneficial for both help me to get interviews for relevant roles as well as my continued education.
This has lead me to explore projects and portfolio ideas which are in the area that I want to got work in. And this has also lead me to want to find a place (here on my blog) to consolidate my ideas for these things, so that I can have a place to keep track of myself, and check back up on my progress. (As well as a Trello board).
I intend on posting here with progress from what I have been gathering about these topics, and showcasing what I have learned along the way. To begin with – I think that I am going to look at C++ / Algorithms and Data Structures, along with some Machine Learning and Computer Vision topics.
